I don’t know about you, but bread gives me life. I feel like it completes a meal, yet can also become a meal all on its own. And for someone who struggles a wee bit with her relationship with food, sometimes I just need something that I know I will enjoy as a part of my meals.
Recently, my husband and I watched the documentary Cooked on Netflix. If you haven’t watched it yet, stop everything and go watch it! Seriously, it’s that good. My husband absolutely loves cooking and so we watch a lot of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, cooking documentaries, and more!
Back to Cooked….
So they have an episode called “Air” and it is all about bread. It is absolutely heavenly to watch. But it also inspired our journey to making our own bread. Let me tell you, it has been quite lovely having all this lovely bread to eat. Sometimes our recipes turn out amazing, other times, not so much. But it is completely worth it!!
Yesterday, I was really craving some classic flatbread. So, I did a quick google search of homemade flatbread, pita, and naan, then I completely ignored the recipes and just took the general idea of what they had (this is why our recipes sometimes don’t work…. I hate following instructions).
This beautiful bread ended up as a combination of the three, though I would say taste-wise, it is closest to a flatbread. However, I say fuck labels… So call it whatever you want, I am just going to call it amazing!! I seriously can’t stop eating it. It is definitely going to become a regular in our kitchen!!
