Our Travel Photography and Videography Gear

As we prepare for our adventure of traveling full-time as a family, I wanted to share with you the gear we have and the gear that we are saving up to hopefully get soon.  Taking good photographs is not only important for having amazing memories, but it is also something that is vital as we create art and travel content full-time here on my blog, YouTube channel, and Instagram account. So, if you’re interested in what we are taking with us to photograph and film our adventures, this list is for you! You can simply click on the image to see more information about it.

Gear we are taking

Canon 60D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm lens

I got this camera several years ago for portrait photography. You can now purchase it at a steep discount, but it is an older model. If you are interested in the updated model, you can get that here.

Canon 50mm Lens

This is my most used lens. It is super lightweight and it is the closest to what I see in real life.

Canon 85mm Lens

This one takes beautiful portraits, but you have to be decently far from your subject.  So keep that in mind.

Logitech Webcam

We love this webcam not only for video chatting with family but we also use it as another video recording device for other angles. It does need to be connecting to a computer, but that isn’t a huge issue for most recording.

Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash

This isn’t something that I use often, but it is great to have a flash option in your camera bag, in case you have a situation that needs a bit more lighting.

Extra Canon Battery and Charger

I highly recommend having an extra camera battery. It makes a huge difference when you are on location shooting.  Definitely buy a batter that is on-brand. Off-brand batteries don’t work as well or last as long.

256GB Memory Card and Memory Card Reader

I love having a massive memory card because I don’t have to change it throughout the day or even every few days.  I also have a few smaller ones that I keep in a little bag just in case. You could definitely get away with a smaller card, though, if you are on a budget. This card reader isn’t the same as mine, but it is similar.

Vanguard Alta Pro 263AGH Aluminum Tripod Kit

I cannot say enough about this tripod.  It is pretty heavy, so that’s something to think about. But as an artist, this is an absolute must. I have complete control over the direction of the camera and it is heavy duty enough to hold the weight of the camera. For me, right now, this is a total must.

Selfie Stick Phone Tripod

I love this because it doubles as a phone tripod and a selfie stick as needed. Plus, it comes with a Bluetooth remote trigger, which is also nice!  This isn’t the exact one I have but it is the closest I could find online.

Passport 1TB External Harddrive

While most of our content is stored on the cloud, we also have an external hard drive whenever we need it.

Lenovo Yoga 910 Laptop

If I am being honest, I am not super happy with this laptop. I love that it is lightweight, but I have had numerous issues with it. However, if you are interested in checking it out or looking at something similar, here you go. We currently use this to edit images and videos as well as everyday work.

Acer Chomebook

This chromebook has been a great asset for writing and other internet based work. It is lightweight and simple to use.

Yeti Microphone

Our Yeti whill be used to capture nature sounds in areas near where we are staying, as well as to record voice overs and to record the vocals for all our videos

Websites and Software

Our digital software is just as important as the gear we use. Because without it, we would be able to do anything with the content we create.

Adobe Creative Cloud

I have been using adobe products for more than 10 years! This is absolutely a non-negotiable cost for me. I regularly use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Audition. I also have access to all the programs if I needed others.

What we are saving for

There are several products that we are hoping to save up for over the next few months, but I wanted to go ahead and share those with you.

Go Pro & Accessories

This is like the goto travel gear, but we haven’t had the money yet to get one. But we are really excited about having the opportunity to have a small camera that can go underwater and more!

DJI Mavic Air Drone

A Drone would be amazing for getting aerial shots for youtube videos and more! $nbsp;

As for now, this is all the gear we have and are hoping to get.  I will keep this list updated as we go if we update any of our gear!  What is some of the gear that you absolutely have to have?
